General English

This General English course covers the four core skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening and is designed to cater for all learning styles. We carefully prepare lessons to meet the needs of individual students, helping them in their daily lives and providing support to enable them to achieve their ambitions. On this course you will:

  • study in a positive, fun and friendly environment.
  • practise all skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
  • gain confidence.
  • make friends.
  • improve your grammar.
  • learn study skills to help you practise English at home and prepare for exams.
  • learn new vocabulary and word-building skills.

This course is for you if:

  • You want to improve your general level of English.
  • You want to improve your communication skills.
  • You want to improve your writing skills (emails, letter writing, report writing etc.).
  • You want to learn study-skills that will help you throughout life.

Learning and Skills:

What will I study and learn?

  • You will follow a scheme of work that is designed with individual students’ needs in mind.
  • You will also be following a course book.
  • You will learn many new words and expressions and practise them individually, in pairs and in groups.
  • You will learn about English grammar and have opportunities to use it in practical ways.
  • You will improve your English spelling skills.
  • You will improve your fluency and pronunciation.
  • You will become more confident and proficient in listening and reading for general and specific information.
  • You will learn how to write using both formal and informal language.
  • You will also learn study skills which can be used wherever you study in the future.

Entry requirement:

You will be asked to complete an initial assessment test when you enrol on the course which will make sure we put you in the right class and at the appropriate level. The minimum age for all our courses is 18.
